Both teams are coming off a huge win. Hattiesburg beat Gulfport(0-3) by a score of 61-49.
The Tigers ended with just under 600 total yards but defensively, gave up 650 yards to the Admirals. Sophomore running back, Marcquise Hosey had a break out game rushing for over 200 yards on just three carries and two touchdowns of 80 and 84 yards. Senior RB,
Derrick Virgil
had 18 carries for 162 yards and three touchdowns of 1, 21 and 54 yards. Athletic QB, Daryl Bourne scored two TD's, one from an 88 INT and the other is from a five yard run.
Hattiesburg lost to Laurel a week before gaining 100 yards in total offense. Hattiesburg has out scored their opponenet 96-78 with just two passing TD's.
Petal is coming off their first victory of the season under new head coach, Steve Buckley. Petal's offense seemed to come together beating Greene County(1-2), 36-14. Junior RB, Isaiah Newsome had a brake out game rushing for 175 yards on 23 carries and two TD's. Junior QB, Drew Carruth passed for his first career TD who finsihed with just over 100 yards passing. The Panthers struggled offensively through the first couple of games only scoring one touchdown. Petal was shut out against the Oak Grove Warriors(3-0) a week before, 19-0.
What I think: The Tigers rushing attack is great but must be able to pass the ball. The Panthers must find the Tiger weak spots of defense in order to win. Petal will end up passing for the winning TD. Game Ball: Look Petal to upset Hattiesburg
